Kerry O’Grady

Acupuncture

I Specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology care for women during pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, birth and the post-partum period. Practising Acupuncture and Oriental medicine since 1982.

I began focusing on women’s medicine early in my career. My attendance was requested at a birth not long after I had qualified and I was hooked. I have attended over 100 births and assisted 1000s of women with fertility issues and pregnancy ailments such as morning sickness, migraine, backache and pelvic pain, and tiredness.

Acupuncture is a holistic treatment which involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points. The treatment is tailored to the individual and is known to improve the overall well-being of a patient as well as address specific symptoms.

My acupuncture treatments may include moxibustion, massage, herbal medicine, nutritional and general advice throughout pregnancy.

Pre-conception

I specialise in treating women with fertility issues. This may mean treatment through an IVF cycle or helping with Chinese medicine in regulating the menstrual cycle, supporting natural conception and promoting a successful pregnancy. Treatment of the partner may be recommended.

Pregnancy

I may be treating a woman from early pregnancy or pre-conception.  I will see her throughout pregnancy, counselling her in the making of decisions that feel appropriate to her and offering help to prepare plans for labour. I give nutritional advice and offer relief from physical and emotional symptoms to do with pregnancy.

Birth

I treat up until birth and offer induction beyond the due date. I attend births if requested but more usually am nearby to give advice and support. I find it is more useful to teach her and her birth partner techniques which help make labour a positive and straightforward experience. On the other hand, I may meet the woman for the first time when she is 10 days overdue and a midwife refers her for a bit of acupuncture encouragement in the ripening of the cervix.

Post-Natal

I often see women during the post-partum period to help with issues such as exhaustion, anxiety and depression, lactation issues and so on. I am on hand to offer support if she is struggling in any way.

My current fee is £50.00 per hour.

Treatments will usually last an hour.  Please feel free to ask questions by email or phone.

  • I first went to see Kerry when I was pregnant with my first daughter, nearly 15 years ago. She not only helped me through some difficult physical times during that pregnancy, she also empowered me to learn more about my choices around birth and beyond. Kerry has since become a very good friend, and I still see her regularly for acupuncture. She is a deeply wise and intuitive healer, who sees beyond what is obviously present. Her love of nature and strong connection to the natural world also shine through her healing work, making any treatments with her always inspiring, deeply nourishing, and very beautiful

  • I visited Kerry for the first time when I was pregnant with my second child. I was overdue and facing the prospect of induction which I desperately wanted to avoid. Seeing Kerry helped restore some calm and her expertise was very much appreciated. She was extremely accommodating and after a few visits my daughter was born by waterbirth in what was a truly positive and special experience

  • I couldn’t recommend Kerry more highly, she’s helped me with aches and pains, migraines, fertility, post partum and much more. I prefer to see Kerry before a GP these days.

    Bally Sidhu

  • I would definitely recommend Kerry, I’ve tried a few places for acupuncture but wouldn’t go anywhere else now that I’ve found Kerry, she knows what she is doing and helped me loads, I always feel pampered and relaxed after my visit.

  • Kerry is incredibly knowledgeable and has sorted me out, whether reducing stress, stopping a virus in its tracks or dealing with aches and pains, more times than I care to remember. She's also really nice.
