Deirdre with over 45 years in Healthcare, Founder of Abacus Chiropractic Clinic is proud of the professionalism within the Abacus Team. Deirdre passion has been with babies and her subject the importance of sleep and development, and she teaches and presents at International level, ensuring the Abacus Team, including Claire Botsoe continue supporting the local community families. Deirdre has been a member of the Pregnancy & Birth network since its founding year.
What to expect? Assessment at the first appointment, considers the birth and full history, which aims to ascertain whether the infant or child may benefit from chiropractic intervention. (Or indeed assessment during pregnancy, see below). Assessing the infants natural position, reflexes, nerve function and movement, to ensure movement is even and balanced. Referral where necessary to your midwife, Health Visitor or General Practitioner.
With gentle releases and parental guidelines to encourage on going even movement & mobility, the natural movement is encouraged. Aftercare guidelines are given to help assist progress, and follow up care.
Would I as a Mum benefit from Chiropractic? Yes to encourage a healthy nervous, muscle and skeletal connection and correct alignment best for you and the growing baby. Pelvic alignment assists ease of movement throughout the pregnancy. As the pregnancy progresses and your shape changes to accommodate the weight of the developing baby, posture is vital so you may enjoy the pregnancy and preparation time. (often direct referrals from midwives & Health care providers) for posture and care to assist pelvic positional problems.
