Kerry O'Grady Acupuncture specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology Care for women during pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and birth and the post partum period.

I have been practising Acupuncture and Oriental medicine since 1982.  My practice began focusing on women's medicine early. My attendance was requested at a birth not long after I had qualified and I was hooked. I have attended over 100 births and assisted 1000s of women with pregnancy ailments such as morning sickness, migraine, backache and tiredness.I also specialise in treating women with fertility issues. This may mean treatment through an IVF cycle or helping with Chinese medicine in regulating the menstrual cycle, supporting natural conception and promoting a successful pregnancy. Treatment of the partner may be recommended.

Acupuncture is a holistic treatment which involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points. The treatment is tailored to the individual and is known to improve the overall well-being of a patient as well as address specific symptoms. More about how acupuncture works may be discovered on my website: www.kerryleamingtonacupuncture.co.ukwww.facebook.com/kerrys.acupuncture?fref=ts and the website of the British Acupuncture Council:  www.acupuncture.org.uk

My acupuncture treatments may include massage, herbal medicine, nutritional and general advice throughout pregnancy.

Typically I may be treating a woman from early pregnancy or pre-conception.  I will then see her throughout pregnancy, counselling her in the making of decisions that feel appropriate to her and offering help to prepare plans for labor. I do not usually attend birth these days but am on hand in case support is needed. I find it is more useful to teach her and her birth partner techniques which help make labour bearable and effective. I will then see the woman post partum and may continue to see her monthly if she is struggling in any way.  On the other hand I may meet the woman for the first time when she is 10 days overdue and a midwife refers her for a bit of acupuncture encouragement in the ripening of the cervix.

My current fee is £45.00 per hour.

Treatments will usually last an hour.  Please feel free to ask questions by email or phone
